A Sikh from Punjab, India, Sumerinder has an impressive educationalbackground. His ability comes naturally. The education was not what onewould expect from an artist of this caliber. Mangat graduated from SaintStephen's College, Delhi University (known as Oxford of the East). Aftercompleting his B.A. Honors in History, he enrolled for his Masters in BusinessAdministration at the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi, one of theforemost management institutions in India.
Once settled in an advertising carreer with Lintas Worldwide (an Americanmultinational), Sumerinder felt he could combine his management abilitieswith his artistic skills. Instead, he found his artistic ability stifled,embroiled in the day to day grinder of a bureaucratic corporation.
He left his job to become a freelance advertising consultant, and to"pursue fine art for its own sake". His clients include up andcoming computer companies in the Silicon Valley, and several ethnic companieswho seek his advice on projecting a favorable image on the American scene.
