Clifton Greene, Jr.

Born in Bristol, Connecticut, and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, and he realized his love and passion for drawing as early as the fifth grade. Many afternoons were spent drawing faces of models from magazines, while other youths were outside playing sports.

After majoring in art and graduating from Thomas Snell Weaver High School in 1966, Mr. Greene attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, for two years. From there he transferred to the University of Hartford Art School and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1971. He worked as a staff artist at Connecticut General Insurance Co. from 1971-1973. He went on to pursue a Masters degree from Howard University.

His one man shows include Manchester Community College, The Hartford Insurance Group, Fairfield University, American International College and Farmington Valley Arts Center. His prizes and awards are many including “Best In Show” two times at the Hartford Civic and Arts Festival and at the Slater Memorial Art Exhibit.

His current passion is his rendering of different flowers. He feels that flowers just like people have their own personalities and exhibit such unique characteristics.
