Cuban-American artist Robie Julian was born February 16, 1953. During the sixties, Robie studied in New York. He was involved in music for a few years, then traveled to Spain to continue his education in music. Robie was involved in fine art as well, and studied at the fine art school of Madrid, Spain until 1977. He then came back to the United States and enrolled in Miami Dade Community College, in Florida. In 1988 he taught at the Creativity Art Institute in Miami Shores, Florida. Since that time, Robie Julian has been a professional artist. Robie's work deals with a broad range of themes and styles. His diversity ranges from abstract subjects, through realistic impressionist land and seascapes, floral's, still life, wildlife, erotic art to the most far-out space and fantasy. Mr. Julian has had various individual and selected group exhibitions. He also had an invitational show in 1988, at the Ariel Gallery in Soho, New York. In 1986, Robie was fortunate to have commissioned "A MAtter of Degree's" for the National Society of Professional Surveyors. Robie has had several reviews from 1988 to 1990, including Edition of Encyclopedia of Living Artists in America (12 best artists); Edition of Erotic Art by Living Artists (10 best artists); International Catalogue of Contemporary Art, American Artists; Illustrated Survey of Leading Contemporaries and New York Art Review. Well known in the art world, Robie has gained recognition for his work by the city of Miami in 1984, awarded by Dr. Perez Jr., Commissioner. After formal training in surrealism, Robie developed an individual cosmic landscape style influenced by music and illustrations of album cover artists including illustrators of the British rock group Yes and science fiction artists. His style has been defined as Meta-Psychological-Cosmic, which is the art of the universe of the mind, and the illusion pf powerful colors, shapes, and vastness.
