ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Art has always fascinated me. Art is where reality meets fantasy; where the outside world meets our inner world. There are no barriers, no rules that cannot be broken for an artistic statement to be made. Art is communicating at a higher level than just merely words, which by the limitations of itself, does not allow for all human beings to be able to communicate with one another. Art, visual art, that is, it's being able to communicate through images that incorporate not just color, line, composition, and design; but rather a non-verbal statement. It brings the artist to bare the artist's soul to the viewer. Art by itself has a life of its own. And just as beauty is considered to exist "in the eye of the beholder", so is graphic art. While some art may appeal to a particular audience, to others it may not appeal. Just as beauty, so is art very subjective and personal.

Personally, I believe that nature has no faults. God created it. How, then, could it be defective in any way? Art itself is to create. To be able to contemplate a common object/person, and/or situation and portray that particular image on a canvas, piece of paper, etc., in a very personal and special manner. To me art is the act of creating by the human touch.

When talking about creating art, I am not limiting the definition of art just by what may be considered aesthetically beautiful. Being a communicative tool, just as in the real world and life itself, not everything is beautiful. However, everything is necessary in order for our world to exist. In my view, therefore, to be able to create an image and transmit some sort of emotion; whether it be positive or negative... it is, therefore, to create art. In my opinion, in order to fully enjoy art, the viewer needs to relax and forget about the existence of a world outside the particular artwork the viewer may be observing and/or studying. To open up your senses and enjoy aesthetically, as well as emotionally, and psychologically, the artist's personal view of whatever subject matter is being portrayed. To let go of any sense of restriction and embark in a journey that has no limitations. To soar through someone else's eyes and soul throughout their art.

Although just like in the real world, there are many facets of life itself to be expressed artistically, I personally thoroughly enjoy creating art works in which either nature in general, the human body, and/or abstractions from reality are involved. I believe that our best source of inspiration comes from life itself. Whether it pertains to objects/subjects/the human body, and/or real or imaginary situations; life, itself, is the ultimate and infinite source of art.
