A graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute, Jamen confesses that his artistic abilities were developed at an early age. He started at the age of two, and excelledat rendering from memory anything that captured his interest. He won many awards and scholarships with a passion for art.Jamen is mostly self-taught, but he did take a few courses at the Univerity of Hawaii at Manoa. Inspired by old master artists like Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and Rembrandt, Jamen applies traditional techniques to his painting.
Begining with an underpainting, Jamen adds layer after layer of transparent glaze which give his paintings a luminosity and depth.
