Joseph Dickerson

Drawing images has always been Joseph Dicerkson's way of communicating. He recalls in school wanting to draw what he was thinking, as a way of explaining something. Art has become a passion for him.

He first realized that he had talent for art when he was in high school. When he was in the 10th grade, his teacher encouraged him to draw. He later won awards in the state of Virginia. The most exciting award that he has won was when he was 17 and he received a gold award on the national level.

Joseph remains excited about the success of art. When it became time to choose a career, he wanted to support himself. But he wasn't sure if art could bring in a steady income. So he went to culinary arts school to become a chef.

As time goes by he feels an increasing need to draw and educate himself about art. He loves the different colors and shapes that are in a picture. He continues to paint and read about art.

"I enjoy the images that I create, and my hope is that others will feel the same."
